1. Who We Are (Data Controller)
The data controller responsible for your information is:
Samuel Blackburn (blankcurb)
Based in England, United Kingdom
Contact: sam+contact@samuelblackburn.com
As a UK-based developer, we are subject to the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. What Data We Collect
We do not directly collect, store, or process any personal data ourselves. We do not require account registration, and you are never asked to provide your name, email address, or any other personal details directly within our apps.
Certain data is collected automatically by the third-party services we use (listed in Section 4). This may include:
- Device identifiers and model information
- Operating system version
- App version and usage events (screens visited, features used)
- Performance metrics (app start time, network latency)
- Crash and error reports, including approximate IP address at time of crash
- Advertising identifiers (on apps that display ads)
3. Legal Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)
We process data on the following legal grounds:
- Legitimate interests — to improve app performance, fix crashes, and monitor stability. We have a legitimate interest in ensuring our apps work correctly for all users.
- Consent — where personalised advertising is shown via Google AdMob, consent is obtained in accordance with applicable law and Google's consent framework.
4. Third-Party Services
Our apps use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data. We encourage you to read them.
Firebase Analytics & Performance (Google)
Used in all apps to understand how users interact with our apps and to monitor performance. Google may use this data to improve their own services.
firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Firebase Crashlytics (Google)
Used in all apps to automatically report crashes and errors so we can fix them quickly. In the event of a crash, Crashlytics may collect: IP address, device model and OS version, app version, and the time and context of the crash.
firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Google AdMob
Used in some of our apps to display advertisements. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and device information to serve relevant ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising in your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy → Tracking; Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
Apple In-App Purchases
Some of our apps offer optional in-app purchases (e.g. a "Buy Me a Coffee" tip). All purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information. Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by:
5. International Data Transfers
The third-party services listed above (Google / Firebase, Apple) may store and process data on servers outside the United Kingdom and European Economic Area. These transfers are covered by the respective providers' Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards approved under UK GDPR.
6. Data Retention
We do not directly store your personal data. Retention of any data collected by third-party services (Firebase, AdMob, Apple) is governed by their own retention policies. Please refer to the links in Section 4 for details.
7. Your Rights Under UK GDPR
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — to request a copy of data held about you.
- Right to rectification — to correct inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure — to request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Right to restrict processing — to limit how your data is used.
- Right to data portability — to receive your data in a portable format.
- Right to object — to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Rights related to automated decision-making — we do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
Because we do not directly hold personal data, most requests will need to be directed to the relevant third-party service (Google or Apple). However, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us and we will assist where possible.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the
Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) — the UK's data protection authority:
ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint
8. Children's Privacy
Our apps are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Our apps are suitable for general audiences but are designed for users aged 13 and over. If you believe a child has provided personal data through our services, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our apps, services, or legal requirements. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of our apps after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
